Auxerre region, between vineyard and gastronomy
The vineyards have a special place in the region of Auxerre because of their ancientness (the vines have been grown since the 2nd century) and because of their reputation: Irancy, Crémant de Bourgogne… The vineyards of Auxerre get the label “Vineyards and Discoveries” in 2013, which distinguishes the wine-making destinations, proposing a complete offer of tourism products such as visits of cellars, accommodation, heritage sites, tastings, leisure activities...
In Yonne department, two destinations have the label “Vineyards and Discoveries”:
- Chablis vineyards
- Auxerre vineyards and its surroundings
The professionals who got this label will share with you the authenticity of the soil and region in many ways: tastings, visits of the wine heritage, walks in the vineyards, wine cooking, festive sharing moments and charming good addresses… in order to discover the wonderful land of Burgundy in a convivial atmosphere.
But we can’t talk about Burgundy without mentioning the gastronomy of our region! It is a pleasure for the eyes and for our taste buds: enjoy a tasty and convivial dinner. Among the specialities: eggs in red wine sauce, snails, ham in wine sauce, beef bourguignon, choux buns with cheese, cherries, foie gras, truffle from Burgundy...
